It was hard to figure out my favorite photo but once I sat with my thoughts it came to me: Kenton, Oklahoma. Kenton is a small "blink and you'll miss it" type town but it is very important place in my paternal ancestry and in American history. It was once known as "No Man's Land" and is located in the Oklahoma panhandle close to the boarder of New Mexico. Last summer I was able to visit Kenton while on my way home to Washington from Texas and that brings me to my favorite photo...

This photo of the Kenton Museum is my favorite because this tiny museum contains so much information about history of Kenton and on the "Founding Families" which includes the Hughes, Cochran, and Hubbard families. The gentleman who runs the museum was really nice and very helpful with locating books that had information on my ancestors who lived there. There was even a photo from 1911 of the school children on the wall that included my great grandmother and her future husband Calvin Hughes. I am hoping to make another trip back to Kenton to actually take a look around and see if I can find the land my ancestors used to live on.
